LIVE FROM THE FLOWER SHOP

Live From The Flower Shop is NOT97’s live session series in partnership with Bed Stuy’s cultural outpost Cafe Erzulie. On every episode we welcome a budding artist to join us for an intimate live session featured two songs performed from Cafe Erzulie.

FEATURING MOLIY

Not 97 & Cafe Erzulie are back with a very special episode of Live From The Flower Shop featuring rapidly rising Ghanaian - American artist Moliy. Moliy has been making waves across the world through her collaboration with Amaarae "Sad Girls Luv Money," as well as dance-ready deliveries like "Ghana Bop," "Wondergirl," and her latest "Deja Vu." Her sound crosses genres and cultural influences from afrobeat, to RnB, pop, and more. Moliy joined us Live From The Flower Shop for an intimate performance of her hometown anthem "Ghana Bop," as well as the global smash "Sad Girlz Luv Money."

FEATURING DEEM SPENCER

This week Live From The Flower Shop series features Queens, NY native Deem Spencer. Deem is an introspective artist. He takes his time with his music, evident in his measured & meditative approach to songwriting. His music makes you think and it makes you feel. He paints scenes that are at first familial but reveal layers of depth the longer you listen. We're blessed to welcome Deem to the Flower Shop for an intimate performance of "Prayed For More" and "One Hundred Seasons," two standout tracks from his latest release "Deem's Tape." Enjoy!

FEATURING ARAYA

The latest installment of Live From The Flower Shop features a young visionary who goes by the name of Araya. The Brooklyn-based, Long Island-native is somewhat of a creative polyglot. Having studied fashion and design at FIT, Araya’s art reaches far beyond his sound. But his destiny as a songwriter is undeniable. “Atlas,” his debut released earlier this year, introduced a fearless talent, ever eager to push boundaries, with a clear knack for ear-catching hooks and melodies.

Araya came through with his full band to debut his new single “Archon” that will be released later this week, as well as “Blue” and “Favorite Sin.” Watch the full video on IGTV and Youtube. Look out for Araya’s newest single, and sophomore record coming soon!

FEATURING KOFI HUNTER

For the third installment of Live From The Flower Shop we welcome Queens' own Kofi Hunter. The multi-percussionist is no stranger to Erzulie, known to rock many a Soul Session & Jazz Night pre-Covid in the backyard. Kofi pulled up with his trio — Paul "BaeBro" Wilson on Keys & Parker McAllister on Bass — to perform an original jazz arrangement of Mos Def's quintessential 1999 cut "Umi Says."

Featuring Gabe ‘nandez

Gabe 'Nandez has been through a lot. The Brooklyn-based hip-hop artist spent his childhood moving around the world from country to country with his family. He battled with addiction for years and found an outlet for his struggle through music. Now—more clear-headed than ever before—'Nandez is gearing up to release his debut album "Diplomacy" on POW Recordings later next month.

We caught up with the multi-lingual artist at his Brooklyn home to share his go-to breakfast of steel-cut oats, discuss why his upcoming record is his most personal, introspective project to date, and hear a live performance of an unreleased track titled "Dar."

Featuring Jachary

On our latest episode of Breakfast Session we visit singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Jachary. The Brooklyn-based artist welcomes into LoveLove Studio—his basement recording space—to perform a stripped-down, acoustic version of an unreleased song, share the lastest ideas in his phone's Notes app, and discuss redefining the role he plays as Jachary the solo project and Jachary the band.

Along with his roomates and some close friends we fire up the grill for a backyard barbecue complete with hamburgers, hotdogs, and homemade dickslam hot sauce.

On episode two of Not 97's Breakfast Sessions we visit Queens-bred soul singer duendita at her Brooklyn apartment. duendita brings us to Jen's Roti Shop, her favorite local roti spot. We talk about her connection to Berlin and the evolution of her sound through a group of artists and creatives called Baketown Collective. And duendita performs an intimate rendition of "Pray," live from her bedroom. duendita's debut record "direct line to My Creator" is available on all platforms.
